The American Dream… What it means
to me
What is really behind those black and white words that
barely describe our world and the people in it? America is the land of opportunity
and freedom, as many would describe it. People will journey far and wide, searching
for a purpose in life when they have several opportunities laid out before them.
For several centuries, Americans have sought to find something enjoyable and
powerful to last a lifetime. Americans might dream of fame and wealth, while
others dream of happiness and friends to share those dreams. Some even might
dream of world peace and freedom, like me.
The American Dream is an idea that can be translated in many ways. It
is far more powerful than many people think of it to be. For some, it means the
pursuit of freedom, opportunities in life, equality and liberty, and most
importantly individual expression. For me it means a life of happiness and being
comfortable to be around others that share the same values. The American Dream has freedom as it is a
foundation that is a contrast to many other countries that do not have this
privilege. When I think about the American Dream, I think of opportunity and
freedom. We are a very fortunate country to have such a strong focus even in
tough times, leading us to stick to our American
Dream.
